We are so very pleased to announce the winner of this year’s third annual college scholarship award.
Each year we award $10,000 after a competition among college age children of our employees. The money is designated to be used strictly for tuition. We interviewed some very talented and intelligent young people, and the selection of one deserving candidate was very difficult.
Ashley De La Torre, daughter of Sandra De La Torre who has worked for Air General in IAH for the past five years is our winner for 2016!
Ashley attends Texas A & M University in Kingsville. A member of the National Honor Society, she has an impressive resume of community involvement and extra curricular activities and plans to pursue a career in Veterinarian Medicine.
Ashley also shared a very kind letter in response to receiving the scholarship:
“Hello Mr. Maloney,
I just wanted to thank you for the scholarship your company provides. I am the recipient of the Robert M. Maloney Scholarship this year and I wanted to give my thanks. This scholarship only makes me want to keep going and push harder for what I want to accomplish. My aspiration is to become a Veterinarian and to help people and their pets recover and stay healthy. This is something I am extremely passionate about and to know that not only my family is doing everything they can to support my dream, but that your company has given me support to do so as well. Thank you for not only helping me, but others who want to succeed and follow their dreams as well. I wish I could have thanked you personally for helping my family and me.
Thank you,
Ashley De La Torre”
We wish Ashley the best of luck in her remaining years as an undergraduate and will expect to receive updates on her progress!
